Qun Wen's Award-Winning Reception Center: A Modern Art Gallery and Architectural Marvel

Qun Wen's design inspiration came from deconstructionist techniques. The building walls were dismantled and reorganized, releasing form and volume to realize infinite spatial possibilities. The style school abstracts and simplifies the architecture, transforming it into an artistic element. The outer wall's thickness was increased to form a strong architectural symbol.

The unique properties of this design lie in its spiritual soul. Beyond functionality, the building is a characteristic sales center and a modern art gallery. It stands as a landmark and an exhibition of minimalist design in the Haikou Binhai New Area. The design team, including Jianning Ma, Xiao Tang, Liuqing Liu, and Chen Liu, worked together to bring this vision to life.

Horizontal-grained panels and titanium-zinc panels were used in the elevation, embellishing the building's protruding and curved walls. The gross built area of the project is 2215 sq m. The design's main functions are divided into two major areas: the marketing area and the investment promotion area. Arranged in an L shape, the marketing area is more open and accessible, inviting pedestrians to participate in the activities inside the building.

The project, located in Haikou, Hainan city, was completed in September 2021. The design's underlying research was rooted in architecture's basic function from the Stone Age: to provide shelter. The design challenges included improvements to the design concept, material innovation, and the cooperation of various teams. The result is a unique spiritual landscape that breaks traditional site impressions and reshapes the connection between the base and the building.

This design was awarded Silver in the A' Architecture, Building, and Structure Design Award in 2022. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that showcase outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs are admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
